Recent History

In 1981 CME split from Metal Box when a Management buyout took place.
In 1999 Divisions were created within CME, namely; CME Precision and CME Automotive. Each Division serviced different sectors of the engineering market.
In March 2003 CME Automotive and March 2004 CME Precision were converted to fully independent PTY Ltd companies, with Cape Manufacturing Engineers being the holding Company for both.
On the 6th of September 2004 a milestone was reached in CME. Our internally driven Black Economic Empowerment initiative was finalised and ordinary shareholding was increased from 1981. Broad Brush Investments (PTY) Ltd obtained 26% of CME Precision (PTY) LTD, rendering CME Precision (PTY) Ltd Black Empowered.
